I’ve been playing this game called Quake Live, which is basically Quake 3, but remade for free for the web browser.  This game is awesome, Quake 3 was the game that revolutionized online gaming, especially the competitive play of gaming.  There has been many games made with the Quake 3 Engine, such as Return to Castle Wolfenstein, Jedi Knight Outcast, Jedi Knight Academy, and a lot more.  At the time Quake 3 graphics were the best.  The great thing about this project that ID is doing, is that it’s free, you can use your account from any PC in the world, it saves your settings, it also has a detailed stats of each gamer, including map scores.  The graphics are pretty good and the game play is fun for an Old first person shooter, I can play it for hours on end.  Another great thing about this, is that you do not download the game, it plays on your web browser, the only thing you need to download is a plug in for FireFox or IE, there is no advantage to which browser you use.  The computer requirements aren’t that high, since its an old game, so most computers will play this, there’s plenty of servers online, and games online.   Quake Live also has a feature that, when you first sign up, you will play against a bot, that will tell how good your skill is, and will match you to matches accordingly, so you don’t get whooped by the best quake 3 players, and quit the entire game early.  The game is still in beta stages, except now the game is in open beta, which means anybody can now register and play, it’s quick to register.  There’s many game modes in quake, there’s Capture the Flag, Clan Arena, Free for all,  and Duels.  My favorite is capture the flag, and clan arena, they both require teamwork.  As I said, if your new to quake, it is very quick game play, it usually consists of hoping around and shooting quickly, you are always on your feet, or else your dead, there’s also a lot of weapons.
