HDMI Cable Review: Optimized Cable Company

HDMI cables is the best way to connect your new HD Television. As more people are buying new High Definition Televisions and now that United States is going all digital with there TV transmission, no more analog, more people are upgrading there TVs to high definition TVs. And also the cost of high definition TVs have dropped drastically. The great thing about HDMI is that in a single cable, it can transmit high definition video and audio, making it easy to setup and also a lot more organized, and the ability to hang the TV on the wall.  The second thing you will buy with a HD TV will be a HDMI cable, and as I stated in an article earlier, the HDMI cables in the store’s selling these TVs are rip offs and you should get a cheaper HDMI cable since it will be as good as those expensive cables they sell and Optimization Cable Company is a great place to check out good cost effective cables for the fraction of the price of those expensive ones they try to sell you.

I have received a 3ft HDMI cable from Optimized Cable Company HDMI Cable they have asked me to review their HDMI cable. Optimized Cable Company is a online only store that sells various kinds of cables for all your needs. They also offer free shipping and accept major credit cards and also are a Better Business Bureau certified business, so you can shop with confidence. There HDMI cables are also an excellent price, comparing to the big box stores, I will do a comparison between a Rockfish HDMI cable found in big stories such as Bestbuy and Futureshop and the HDMI cable from Optimized Cable Company below.  This will show the difference between a much cheaper HDMI cable versues a more expensive one.

The HDMI cable came in nice packaging and arrived quickly in the mail, the first thing I noticed about the cable was the plastic end pieces added to the end to protect the HDMI connections. I also noticed that the connections were gold and the wire was nice and thick and had all the specifications on it, such as AWG. The HDMI cable looked very basic, no fancy colors or brand naming all over the place, just looked like a good HDMI cable, straight to the point. I took a good look on a show on discovery HD transmitting at 1080i signals, with my Rocketfish plugged in, and then plugged in the cable from Optimized Cable Company, and took another hard look at it, and kept swapping the cable, and repeating this, and even rewinding and fast forwarding (I have a PVR) the image and pausing it, and I noticed exactly no difference at all between the picture on the TV, between each cable. I noticed that both the cables preformed exactly, the only difference, and this is a big one, was that the price of the HDMI cable from Optimized Cable Company was a fraction of the cost of the Rocketfish. So basically this $10 dollar cable was no different at all against the $50 Rocketfish cable, basically I was paying for the name brand and the coloring and design of the cable.

I also did a second test with each cables, I had a friend come down, and I told him to sit down, and watch some TV, the first cable I had in the TV was the HDMI cable from Optimized Cable Company, I did not tell him anything, or which cable I was using, he was just going by the picture, he had no idea what I was doing, I asked him if he saw any difference in the picture, he said no, none at all, (he has been to my house many times and watched my TV before) After watching the TV for a bit, I later told him to exit the room, I had to do something, and I then installed the Rocketfish cable, and then told him to come back, after awhile I asked him if he saw any difference in the picture, he said no again, and why I was asking him these questions, I told him that I was testing out a high priced HDMI cable between the less priced cable of Optimized Cable Company, he was surprised on how there was no difference at all in the quality of picture between both and the price difference between each one. I also tested the HDMI cable on my 24inch Computer monitor that supports 1080p with the PlayStation 3 and also saw no difference in the quality of picture, in gaming and even in a 1080p bluray movie.

Lets take a look at the specifications of the cable from Optimized Cable Company. The cable supports HDMI version 1.3b1, which is every kind of setup. The wire gauge is 28 which is a great wire gauge, its not to thin. The connectors are gold, for best anti corrosion resistance and transfer of video and audio. The bandwidth of the cable is 340Mhz, 10.2Gbps with a 120 Hz refresh rate, which means that the cable will support the latest electronics and even in the future, since it transmits very high amount of bandwidth. It supports high definition audio, TrueHD and DTS-HD. The cables are very flexible and easy to bend around walls and easier to hide, for that LCD or Plasma TV mounted on the wall. The cables are also shielded against electronic interference, and is encased in a PVC jacket making it stand up to moisture.  Basically this HDMI cable contains all the specifications of a high priced cable in stores and even exceeds them in some areas.
