Plantronics Audio 370 Review

by porkchop on Jul.01, 2009, under Technology Reviews

This is my first Plantronics headset I’ve owned, from reading more about Plantronics online, Plantronics has been around for a long time, and was developed by 2 pilots, and ended up in the moon.  Plantronics became one of the few independent manufacturers identified by the name as a NASA supplier.  As you can see the brand Plantronics has an extensive history and name.

First of all I have a sound card, Creative X-FI XtremeMusic, which of course makes anything sound better, instead of basic onboard audio, so my review is based off using the headset off a sound card not onboard, but it probably sounds just as well on onboard audio.

The Plantronics Audio 370 is a headset for gamers, it has a high quality microphone that transmits clear sound and the ear muffs cover your entire ear, with an open design, letting  you hear the person next to you, or someone calling your name, which is great.  The first thing I noticed about the headset was how comfortable it was, you are able to wear this headset for hours on end and it won’t be uncomfortable.  The headrest at the top is auto adjustable, it adjusts to your head, and fits nicely.  The headset has the “old” feel to it, the square radio ear muffs with the silver holes, gives it that old look, as well as the top plastic part that is oval shaped.  The microphone goes up and down, and can also bend the stem, its a bendable soft plastic so you can bend it closer to your mouth.  It has long cord, and has volume control and a microphone on/off switch on the cord to turn the mic off and on without having to unplug it and disable it on your operating system.  The headset sound quality is great, in Counter-Strike Source, I can actually hear people coming around the corner, and people’s footsteps from afar, I pretty much know where everyone is, nobody can sneak up on me.  The microphone is also loud and clear, people can always hear me great when I talk.  The headset is also branded well, it doesn’t have Plantronics all over the place, and it is a pretty cost effective for a gaming headset, and it operates and looks just as an expensive one.  The only flaw I have seen with this headset is the microphone stays in the down position now, it does not go up or down, it has lost it’s grip.  But this could be fixed by using a bit of tape, and if it’s in the down position people can still hear you, you just have to bend the headset bendable part inwords more, and increase your headset output volume in windows and in game.  I also enjoy listening to music online, and this headset is great it for it as well, it really has bass.

Pro’s
