Facebook and Myspace are great community websites to find old friends, classmates, and people you worked with.  It is also great for talking to overseas friends and family.  The bad part about Facebook/Myspace is that you have to watch out what you put on it.  It is a fact that Employers check prospective employees before hiring them on these site’s.  It might seem like its nothing to post a picture of you in a party with a bottle of beer in your mouth, and several other pictures of party’s and drinking, but this is actually what sets off red alarms for a employer.  Sure the employer probably did the same when he/she was younger, but did not put it on the Internet.  It’s best to keep that life private to yourself, remember that anything you put on the Internet is there for anyone to see.

Facebook and Myspace are the 2 most popular things people do on the Internet, and coming from back then, being on the Internet, before those were even around, it kind of upsets me.  Facebook basically is a place to show off in my eyes, nobody wants to see your pictures face it, and if its your friend’s they can see you in person.  You know that when a person pulls out pictures, and starts showing them its boring, you only do that when you are 70 years old.  I think playing a game online is more productive then using facebook and myspace.  Another thing I notice is how most people who have computers, the only thing they know is how to use Facebook, come on, facebook is a small thing on the computer, compared to everything else you can do.  Another problem with facebook and myspace are the Internet pedophiles, that go there searching for young teens, since they know that’s where they hangout, and post pictures, one of the worst idea’s parents can allow for kid’s is to have a Facebook account.  Did you know that facebook/myspace profiles mostly contain names and locations, even if the address is not there, a quick lookup in the online phonebook, and you can find information on where a person lives, and also what they look like with the pictures, pretty scary isn’t it.  There are a lot of bad stalkers out there, look at those celebrity stalkers that see people on TV and they think they are in love and must stalk that person, that can happen to you online as well.   Parents also have to be careful because kid’s tend to post personal things on there accounts, for example, my parents are having a divorce, that information can get leaked out and really ruin your reputation.

Well these are some advantages and disadvantages from these social networking sites, of course the disadvantages take over from the advantages, so I suggest not using them, this is my opinion, though, please do not take it as I completely hate these site’s, I just feel that the safety of someone is compromised greatly.  Also remember that anything you put on the Internet, innaproriate pictures, and such will stay on the Internet for life, and could ruin your reputation, for example celebrities that have paparazzi taking inappropriate pictures usually feel pretty bad about themselves.  Remember stay safe online.
