I use to own a XBOX 360, for awhile, but then I decided that I wanted a PlayStation 3, not for gaming, because I had the XBOX 360 and my PC. but for Blu-ray movies, since I have that 62inch HDTV, that you’ve seen in my other review below this. At the time it was the format war between HD-DVD and Blu-ray, and I always thought that Blu-ray was going to win this one, simply because they had a lot of support behind them, and a lot of big movie company’s were signing on with Blu-ray technology. I have to say I took a risk in buying it that early and it paid off, since I bought the PlayStation 3, when it was losing many sales to XBOX 360, and it was cheap at the time.

Well you know already what is my favorite part of the PS3, that is its blu-ray player. Blu-ray is amazing the quality of movies, will make you want to just sit at home and not even think about going to the movie theater. The cool thing about blu-ray’s is that they are coming out with a lot of old films, such as Jurassic Park 1, and Godfather movies in blu-ray. You notice many of the details that you were not able to see in the originals. One big mistake people do, with blu-ray is that they buy a standalone blu-ray player, you pay $200-$300 for a standalone blu-ray player that only plays movies, where you can buy a PlayStation 3, which is a computer basically that plays games, movies, networking capabilities (store pictures, music, movies, on ps3 and play them on the PlayStation 3) and also Internet browser that allows you to browse the Internet on your TV.

Another great feature of the PS3, is that it has a built in Wi-Fi adapter, so you can connect the Internet to it easily, it also has USB ports, so you can connect a mouse and keyboard to them, for Internet browsing and chatting. Also unlike the XBOX 360 (XBOX Live) it has a free multi-player system, you do not have to pay to play games online or chat with friends unlike the XBOX 360 were a monthly fee applies that costs as much as a game a year! I have to admit though that XBOX live is amazing, and superior to PS3′s online, but PS3 is constantly updating and improving it. PS3 also has this program that comes with it called Folding@home, http://folding.stanford.edu/ Folding@home is basically a program that you can run on the PS3, all the time, or whenever you want, that help’s to find cures for diseases, for more information on there research and what they do visit their website. You don’t have to worry about leaving the PS3 on all the time, because it is very reliable, there is no such thing as “red rings” on the PS3, it is a well built system.

The PS3 comes in various Hard drive sizes, but easily upgradable with a laptop Hard drive, and instructions can be found here http://www.gamersreports.com/article/43/ I also found out that you do not really need a big hard drive, because there are programs that can stream video, and browse your PC through the PS3 some of the programs are, http://tversity.com/ and my favorite one and best one In my opinion is Java PS3 Media Server and it can be found here http://code.google.com/p/ps3mediaserver they are both easy to setup. The controllers are the same design as the earlier PS controllers for there systems. The cell processor it has is very quick, and there has been people that have bought PS3′s and made a super computer with them, that is why Folding@home is on the PS3 because with all the PS3′s they have basically a huge worldwide server computer doing the protein folding. The games are pretty much the same, the same game can be found on XBOX 360, and PC, most of the time, so there isn’t to much to say about that, and it plays 1080p video games. It also has a built it DVD upscale that will make DVDs look better than a regular DVD player. People have also loaded up there own Operating systems on the PS3, linux and I think PS3 allows it since they have a OS option on there system settings, but I would leave it default PS3 I would not change it to Linux, use you’re Computer for that.

So this is my review on PlayStation 3, I have included a link for your convenience to purchase it, I have selected the 160GB version that comes with 2 games and a controller since It is the best deal, With consoles always buy the version that has the most space and comes with games, its always cheaper than buying the standalone console, just do the math yourself and you will see it will cost more to buy all that stuff separately. If you cannot afford the best deal and bundle one, and can afford the lesser one, I’d save up and buy the bigger one.
